The Jungfrau Marathon has already started today and continues on Sunday. It is often referred to as the “toughest marathon in the world” and we wish one of our guest bloggers,  Rachel Dale, who is running in aid of Room to Read, all the very best. Participants will be running at altitude through the most stunning scenery.

And if you fancy Swimming here is a website with information (in German) listing swimming pools all over Switzerland. And here is a list of the Badis in Zurich. Don’t forget it really might be the last chance for a swim as many of them start closing down from this Sunday onwards. The water temperature today is around 20 degrees – very inviting! Have a great weekend!

Did you get to swim the Limmat? Limmatschwimmen 2012

Tickets for yesterday’s 49th Limmat Swim sold out within hours of going on sale but if you were lucky enough to be amongst the 4,200 swimmers who took part you were rewarded with a refreshing swim in the 30 degree plus heat in Zurich! Starting at the Frauenbadi near Buerkliplatz the swimmers took to the water on little yellow “butterflies” which enabled you to either float or swim along the Limmat past the Muensterbruecke, the Rathaus-Bruecke, the Rudolf-Brunbruecke, Muehlesteg, Bahnhof-Bruecke, Walche-Bruecke, Landesmuseum, Drahtschmidligsteg to the final destination in Oberer Letten.  A veritable city tour by water!

The 50th anniversary of Zurich’s Limmat swim will take place next year and for those of you who like to plan in advance it will take place on either 17th or 24 August 2013. See you there!

Hot & Sunny this weekend! Why not cool off in a Badi?

Really hot sunny weather predicted this weekend with highs of 35C and 36C expected throughout Switzerland by Sunday. The hot weather should continue till Tuesday with no rain in sight.  Enjoy the weather and don’t forget the suncream and water bottles!
