Last Day at the Gourmesse fine food and wine Fair


Monday 8th is the last day at the “Gourmesse” fair at Burkliplatz.  If you haven’t visited and you’re passionate about good food and wine make sure you don’t miss out.  You can taste hams, cheeses (see below photo of Willi Schmid who makes award-winning cheese from Jersey milk) as well as wines, beers and champagne. Chef Rene Widmer demonstrates “cuisine sous vide” and there are demonstrations galore.

Gourmesse is also a place to find hard to source ingredients, gift items, kitchen accessories, gadgets and a show kitchen where top chefs cook up amazing dishes.The fair is open Monday 8th October from 11am till 8pm. Freestyle.ch Next Weekend 22nd and 23rd September in Landiwiese, Zurich

Freestyle.ch is the largest freestyle sporting event in Europe and it takes place in Zurich next weekend from the 22nd – 23rd September. There will be top international stars performing daring tricks on their snowboards, freestyle skis, FMX bikes and skateboards and there will be plenty of action.

Lots of new products and equipment will also be available to purchase at event. It all takes place at Landiwiese and for more information please go to the Website. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Tourist Office, at the main station in Zürich.

Züspa 2012 in Oerlikon – Shopping, Food, Wine and lots more

From 21st September – 30th September Zuespa is once more in town.

This annual event which takes place at the Messe in Oerlikon, next to the Concert hall,  is like a cross between the “Ideal Home Show” and an English Country Fair.  Not only do they usually have live animals such as sheep and goats and sometimes lamas on display outside, but they also have 1000s of square metres of shopping opportunities of all varieties on the inside, with wine tasting, delicatessen and food tastings as well as a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars.

Züspa is open:

Monday – Friday from 12 till 9pm, Saturday from 10 till 7pm (with the food halls staying open till 9pm) and on Sunday all Halls are open from 10 till 7pm.

Tickets cost CHF 12 for adults and CHF 6 for children. You can buy a special rail and Züspa card online  giving discounted entry if you arrive by public transport and for more information click here.
