Photos from Silvesterlauf Zurich 2012

Sunday’s Silvesterlauf was a successful event in Zurich with crowds thronging the streets as people paraded around in all sorts of costumes, from traditional lycra sports attire to various forms of fancy dress, ranging from angels, to devils to Father Christmases, to red hot chilli peppers and everything in-between.  There was even someone running through the city dressed as a box!

Parts of the city were closed to traffic to accommodate the run which is called the Silvesterlauf (actually meaning New Year’s run) but for some strange reason it always takes place in the middle of December.

A fun event, maybe you’ll want to take part next year?

36th Zuercher Silvesterlauf – join the Zurich City Run on 16th December!

The 36th “Silvesterlauf” takes place in Zurich on the 16th December.  You can either register online via www.datasport.ch or you can email info@silvesterlauf.ch and request an “Einzahlungsschein” for payment.  Registration via Einzahunsschein closes on 1st December and online on the 9th December – so you still have time to both get in condition and to register.

There are all sorts of categories you can register in – for example, father and child, families, mother and child, “I’m fit”, “Run for Fun” etc, etc!  So find one that suits you and enjoy the run through Zurich. For more information (in German) click here.
