A few things going on this week that you might be interested in:
There is a sale of “Trendies” and “Maysense” clothing for both children and women taking place at Zollikon Gemindesaal today and on Thursday 4th October from 9.30 – 18.00. Do take a look and see if you can snap up some bargains.
This Saturday 6th October an Indie rock band from the UK called the Skinny Machines is playing at the Big Ben pub near Hardbrucke in the evening from around 8pm onwards. Entrance is free and if you want to find out more about them please click here.
Don’t miss all the fun of the fair as Circus Monti is on for a few more days until Sunday 7th October with trapeze artists, clowns and acrobats from all over the world. The circus takes place in a big top located at Kasernenareal in Zurich and for more information and to book tickets click here.
The food and wine festival “Gourmesse.ch” is taking place from this Friday 5th – Monday 8th at the Kongresshaus in Zurich. More information to follow in our next post.
If you missed the Irish open air concerts last weekend in Toggenburg you might be interested to know that there is an Irish Folk Festival coming to Zurich on 26th and 27th October, playing at the Volkshaus. For tickets and more details click here.
￼If you haven’t yet visited the Viadukt in Kreis 5 in West Zurich, then Friday 7th September would be a great time to go! They are having a special day and night of events and entertainment when they will stay open late till 2am. 64 shops, restaurants, and bars will be opening their doors on the day. There will be amazing food from all the delicatessens – local and international culinary delights for gourmets and gourmands of all ages. From sushi to Swiss specialties like bratwurst and raclette, to a Fontaine d’Absinthe – there will be lots of variety! There will be music from the Flying Carrots, Ben Johnson and Ruedi Burkhardt and more, a photo exhibition, book reading, dancing under the stars in the form of tango taster sessions, a big fashion workshop and plenty to keep you busy. Another fun-packed week ahead! Zurich Openair Festival 2012 is about to start on 23rd – 26th August. The line up includes bands such as The Killers, the Prodigy, Kraftwerk, The Chemical Brothers DJ set and lots more. Then on the 24th August the Dorfli Festival begins in Niederdorf in the old town in Zurich . There will be a great atmosphere with an eclectic line up of street performers, one man shows, live music, DJs as well as lots of open air restaurants and pavement cafes. What’s more is that it’s all free! The Doerfli Festival kicks off at 6pm on Friday night and goes on till 2am, and again till 2am on Saturday night / Sunday morning, finishing at 10pm on Sunday evening. Did you know that there is a Jazz festival taking place this weekend in the Greifensee right next to Schloss Greifensee by the lake? The concert is over 3 days, starting this Friday 17th, continuing on Saturday 18th and ending on Sunday 19th. The weather outlook looks good and there will be big marquees and refreshments available. Tomorrow, 16th August is the last day to buy tickets (CHF 30) which are on sale at the Apotheke in Greifensee village. For more information and details of the programme click here. Not up for Street Parade but fancy something different this weekend? How about visiting the “Schlauer Bauer Open Air” which is on for 3 days from Friday until Sunday in Hof Eichholz in Wetzikon, about an hour from Zurich. For young and old alike, entrance free for under 12s, with folk, reggae, Americana music, poetry and organic food from local farms, workshops and activities – and you can even camp there! 3 day passes available on Starticket in advance for 60 CHF instead of 70 CHF, all other tickets available to purchase on the day.
