What a Weekend in Zurich!

So much to do in and around Zurich this weekend!

Here is a quick round up of things going on this Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd September:

There is of course the Zurich Film Festival

Then there is the Opera House Open Day

The Freestyle.ch event at Landiwiese  – watch this video from last year to get a feel!

The Zuspa Shopping Fair in Oerlikon

The Procession of Cows down the mountain a little further afield in Flums

You can also get involved in Zurich Multi Mobile and even hire a video bike helmet and

make your own movie.

On Sunday there is the Slow Up from Meilen to Rapperswil and on to Schmerikon and if you cycle both directions you will have covered 56 km!

If the weather is off putting there is also the Local International Party at Holmes Place Jelmoli from 2pm – midnight. CHF 20 entry which includes 2 drinks and canapés .

Lots to do and let’s hope you can fit at least some of it  in. Certainly not a weekend to get bored!

It’s Zurich Film Festival Week – so why not make your own movie from a bike?

It’s Zurich Film Festival week (see post below for more info) so if you’re not watching one of the big screens why not shoot your own movie and perhaps even win a prize?

Until 22nd September you can take your Ausweis along as a deposit to the «Zürich rollt» station at Pestalozziwiese and borrow a bike and helmet camera for 30mins to make your own movie of Zurich. By the evening you will be able to watch your own video of the city on Facebook. There will be a competition on Facebook and who knows if yours is voted best film you will be the competition winner!  Good luck!

8th Zurich Film Festival 20th – 30th September 2012

The 8th annual Zurich Film Festival is almost upon us! Starting on the 20th September until 30th September the festival is a great chance to see premieres, films you’ve been eagerly anticipating and lots of extra insights from the global film industry.The website is available here in English and one of our recommendations is the ZFF card which for a one-off payment of  CHF 29 allows you to see any regular film screening for a maximum price of CHF 14 per film. Holders of a kinokarte.ch, ArenaCard or the “Filmpodium’s GA or Half Card” can buy the ZFF card for CHF 24. There is also a special “Competitions Card” costing CHF 120 which allows you to see 10 of the films in the 4 competitions categories for free.
