Something to put in your diary! Blickfang is the International design exhibition for fashion, interiors and jewellery and the good news is that it is coming to the Kongresshaus in Zurich on the 23rd – 25th November.  If you have never visited it before, then now is your opportunity! There is plenty of innovation, inspiration and plenty of things to look at and buy.  There is even day care provided for children from 12 noon and 6pm – so the kids can come too!

Blickgang is all about trends and inspiration – an interaction between Art, Fashion and Music. Instead of a traditional fashion show, Blickfang is organising the “ABSOLUT Blickfang Fashion Performance” with Yannick Aellen staging the latest fashion looks on the catwalk three times a day as follows:

A little Sunday Afternoon Art – More views of the Art International Festival

It’s snowy out there so if you don’t fancy going out why not curl up with a hot cup of tea and take a look at some art? 6 Things to do in Zurich this Weekend!

Lots going on this weekend in and around Zurich and it looks like it will be a good one whether it snows or not. A few things to keep you busy:

1. Open Day (Tag der Offenen Tur) at Zurich Kunsthaus – the gallery is open to everyone for free and lots of special activities including music, tours, competitions etc will be laid on to entertain you and please scroll down to our previous post on this topic for more information. 2. Continuing with the “art theme” there is also the exhibition of young Swiss artists in Winterthur jungkunst.ch which looks like a great occasion to view aspiring Swiss artists in a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy, music, shopping and food and drink. Love this picture by Alain Poussot:

3. Jelmoli Style Days continue with a Family Day in the children’s department with special offers, family photo shoots, a special family breakfast in the newly opened Sopra restaurant and 10% discount on many items across the whole store.

4. On Saturday evening there will be an “apocalyptic evening of fun and food” with a reading in English by Justin Cronin, author of “The Twelve” at Orell Fuessli bookstore at 8:00 p.m. Entrance free. This is part of the “Zurich Liest ’12” initiative which you may have seen advertised on billboards around Zurich.  From October 25th to 28th, the international literary festival «Zürich liest 2012» there will be 140 literary events and more than 200 writers from Switzerland, Germany, Europe and overseas in Zurich and Winterthur «Zürich liest» is a well-known literary festival in the German-speaking world and project is run by the Zurich booksellers and editors association (www.zbvv.ch).For more info in English click here: Zurich Liest ’12

6. And if you’re feeling thirsty why not taste some wine at the Coop Weinmesse at the Schuetzenhaus in Albisguetli.  It’s closed on Sunday but it is open on Saturday 27th from 2pm – 10pm. Jungkunst.ch – Art Exhibition and more in Halle 52 Winterthur 25th October – 28th October

Jungkunst.ch: A PLATFORM FOR YOUNG SWISS ARTISTS
Keeping on the “art theme”, here is some information about art specifically by young Swiss artists that you can view later this week just outside Zurich. This annual exhibition for young art takes place in “Halle 52” in Winterthur from 25th – 28th October. Now in it’s 7th year, Jungkunst invites you to an exhibition of the most promising artists of the contemporary Swiss art scene. Offering a relaxed atmosphere, with a shop, bar lounge and concerts you can admire young art late till into the night. Halle 52 is 5 mins from Winterthur railway station at Katharina Sulzer Platz, 8400 Winterthur
Entrance is CHF 10, under 16s free.
A pass for the duration costs CHF 25
Thursday and Friday from 4pm – till late
Saturday 11am – till late
Sunday from 11 – till 8pm

LUMAS Zurich – Night Lights Exhibition

If you enjoy photography this is one not to miss! From 19th October to the 4th November, LUMAS Zürich is hosting an exhibition featuring photography that highlights the mysterious interplay of darkness and light in the most dazzling cities of the world. The normal daytime city streets and architecture become exciting and colourful after dark offering an insight into a different world. This fabulous photographic exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through the world of the night by six artists, H.G., Esch, Christophe Jacrot, Stephen Haley, Sandra Rauch, Horst & Daniel Zielske in a most fascinating way. The gallery is in Marktgasse 9 in Zurich and the opening times are Monday to Friday 10 – 7pm , Saturday 10 – 6pm and Sunday 1pm – 6pm.
