The Paul Taylor orCHestra is a classical string formation, specialising in performing late romantic to modern concert music. They are currently on tour in Switzerland visiting Interlaken, Zurich and Zumikon. This project represents not only a cultural meeting between Finland and Switzerland, but a bridge between classical, folk and jazz.
“Alphorn & Nordic Winds”, is a program featuring top young string players with harp and percussion, along with celebrated soloists Eliana Burki and the Finnish opera singer, Sanna Kurki-Suonio.
The soloists, all versed in composition and improvisation, bring together the sounds of Lappland and the Alps. The exciting ground-breaking jazz Alphorn Concerto by Swiss composer Carl Rütti is the premiere of a new work called “Constellationen”. It is also the Swiss premiere of the new “Concerto Grosso” by the celebrated Finnish composer Timo Alakotila. Also featured, is the “Weltreise Suite” by Eliana Burki and Nordic songs by Sanna Kurki-Suonio. This should all make for a unique concert experience. Enjoy!
