Last week the Slow Food Market came to Zurich and the event took place at the Messe in Oerlikon. There were hundreds of small producers show casing their wares and plenty of sampling and tasting was going on. The emphasis was on taste and of high quality food, and knowing the origins and provenance of quality ingredients.
As well as cheese, wines, olive oils and chocolates there were nougat companies, Swiss bakery specialists with delicacies such as Nusstorten and chestnut puddings and all kinds of dried meats, dried fruits, whisky, schnapps and more. There was even a Galloway beef stall and a fishmonger from Norway.
